Big Sand, Gairloch
Though often seeking solitude one place has drawn me back since first visiting over 40 years ago (an exception to the "uncrowded rule"). Camp nestled in dunes, with views inland and out to sea. Calm evenings are the time, when days deeds are done. A beach promenade with fellow campers, walking kids and dogs. Plovers flock back and forth, waves pull back and forth. Over the sea Skye peaks gather plumes of clouds, while the light plays its magic over Torridon, washed red by low sun. Take the time to look seaward, as the sun slowly dips behind Hebridean Isles.
